Classic Car Repair, Servicing, Upgrades & Modifications
1940 Ford Model 78

1940 Ford De Luxe

Recently booked in for work is this amazing 1940 Ford De Luxe with a flathead V8 engine. The car is with us to have the standard front bench seat replaced with a nice pair of Sparco racing seats. This classic Ford is also a race/rally car with a full roll bar and harnesses installed! We are installing the seats after fabricating suitable brackets to allow us to mount them to the floor.

1948 Bentley MK VI

1948 Bentley MK VI

This splendid example of 1940s luxury motoring came to us from Germany for recommissioning work. This included replacing both rear shock absorbers, a full service, replacing the front wheel bearings, carrying out an electronic ignition upgrade, replacing both front king pins, replacing a high-pressure suspension line and replacing the fuel level sender amongst a host of other items that required attention.

1951 Bentley MK VI

1951 Bentley MK VI

This 1951 Bentley MK VI has come to us with reports of an engine misfire and brake issues. After an investigation of the braking system, we confirmed the car required front brake cylinders as well as a pair of rear brake expander rods. We traced the cause of the engine misfire requiring the replacement of the ignition leads and spark plugs.

1965 Humber Imperial

1965 Humber Imperial

Another classic sent to us from Germany for some recommissioning work is this 1965 Humber Imperial Super Snipe. The car requires a lot of work to return it to its former glory. From a full engine and gearbox service to suspension, brakes, electrical, cooling system, fuel system, and interior work the car needs a lot of care and attention.

1971 Lotus Elan Plus 2

1971 Lotus Elan Plus 2

Originally, it came to us as a rolling chassis with what can only be described as a "collection" of parts to fit. We've tackled the engine, suspension, brakes, electrical, and bodywork. Only the interior trim remains before this iconic British sports car hits the road again.

1972 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special

1972 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special

One of two Lotus Europa Twin Cam Specials in our workshop this month both resplendent in their John Player Special black and gold liveries. This one was brought to us to investigate an oil leak, deal with some interior trim issues, and replace a worn front lower shock absorber mounting bush.

1973 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special

1973 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Special

The second of the two Lotus Europa Twin Cam Specials has come to us to carry out a full recommissioning. The list is long on this car with issues ranging from suspension, brakes, fuel system, cooling, and engine work all needing to be carried out.

1977 Chevrolet Corvette C3

1977 Chevrolet Corvette C3

Another classic American muscle car to grace our workshop this month is this 1977 Chevrolet C3 Corvette. The car has come to us to have new roller rockers installed.

1985 Lotus Esprit

1985 Lotus Esprit

Brought to us to resolve issues with running, steering, and braking and requiring an MOT this 1985 Lotus Esprit was in need of some TLC. We have installed an electronic ignition system, a new steering rack, reconditioned the brake calipers, renewed the rear wheel bearings, carried out a timing belt change, and fitted a new set of Pirelli P1 Cinturato Verde tyres while addressing many other issues.

1987 Ford Capri 2.8i

1987 Ford Capri 280 Brooklands

A classic 1987 Ford Capri 280 Brooklands arrived for us to carry out recommissioning work. This will involve overhauling the fuel system (including installing a new fuel tank), servicing all mechanical parts, overhauling the brakes, repairing the sunroof, and addressing other issues.

1988 Ford Fiesta 1.1L

1988 Ford Fiesta 1.1L

This little 1988 Ford Fiesta came to us for some bodywork repairs after it was damaged in transport. We are replacing the left-hand front wing, front bumper, bumper end cap, and front lower valance. Then it is off to paint to finish the repairs.

1990 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9L

1990 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9L

After thieves stole and recovered an amazingly clean 1990 Peugeot 205 GTi, it came to us for damage repair. We assessed the damage and ordered a new steering column and lock set. Unfortunately, the theft badly damaged the left-hand door, necessitating its replacement. The customer also decided to have some small bodywork repairs attended to while it was here.

1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo

1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo

One of the original "hot hatches" this 1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo has been brought to us for a full engine rebuild. We are rebuilding this engine replacing everything from the pistons and liners to supplying and fitting a new 3-piece clutch kit. This '90s pocket rocket should be back on the road shortly.

Morgan Based Kit Car

GCS Hawke (Morgan Based Kit Car)

This rare GCS Cars Hawke, a Morgan-based kit car, initially arrived at the workshop as a non-starter with the customer also reporting "lumpy" idling. After carrying out a compression and leak-down test we found the installed Pinto engine had excessive bore and valve wear. The engine had reached the end of its life prompting the customer to opt for a replacement engine. After sourcing and supplying us with a 2.5L V6 Duratec replacement we can start the process of mating it to the original Type 9 transmission, with the addition of a TTV Racing flywheel and clutch, ready for installation.

I have a 20 year old Hyundai Coupe (03), red with beige leather interior. It needs bodywork due to rust, new front wipers, new exhaust, one interior door handle. I adore the car but I am on the point of replacing it. Is it worth me restoring it? Approximately how much would it cost? Thank you, Veronica
